Illness shutters county animal shelter

Animal Shelter temporarily closed by illnessCitrus County Animal Services has temporarily closed the shelter, until further notice, due to an unknown severe upper respiratory illness.

The shelter medical staff and administration have been working directly with veterinarians from the University of Florida Maddie’s Shelter Medicine Program, who are experts in the field of treatment and management of illnesses in shelters.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday morning arrested a Physical Education teacher at Pleasant Grove Elementary School and charged her with selling and possessing marijuana.

PACE comes to Citrus County

A program born in the Florida Legislature has finally reached into Citrus County.

The program is known as PACE, an acronym for Property Assessed Clean Energy, is a way that helps homeowners and businesses get financing for things such as new roofs, solar power and wind-mitigation products such as storm windows.

Citrus County Sheriff’s Office is currently searching for Antonio Cutrona, a 17-year-old white male runaway juvenile.

Antonio is 5 feet 11 inches tall, and weighs 165 pounds. He has blond hair and blue eyes.

He was last seen wearing red sweat pants, a t-shirt, and a blue jacket. He was last seen in Homosassa, on Dec. 30, 2017, around noon. It is possible that Antonio may be in Hudson, in Pasco County Florida.

Sheriff's Office locates 4 missing children at Chassahowitzka

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office on Saturday reported a happy ending for four children that went missing from the Chassahowitzka Campground earlier in the day.

All children were reported in good condition.

The children were found by nearby fishermen on the Chassahowitzka River. They are okay; however, three of the four are showing signs of hypothermia and are being treated by Nature Coast EMS.

"I want to thank the wonderful people of this great community for all of their support during this ordeal," said Sheriff Prendergast.

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office Patrol, Aviation, K-9, Volunteer Bloodhound units and FWC are currently searching the Chassahowitzka Campground in Homosassa for four missing juveniles who are believed to be somewhere in the woods.
