Four Citrus County teenagers were arrested on Thursday following a chase from Ocala ended about six-tenths of a mile south of North Citrus Spring Boulevard.

All four were from Homosassa, including the 14-year old driver of a stolen green 1995 Ford Thunderbird they were all riding in. Arrested were three boys, ages 13, 14 and 15 and a girl, age 14.

A kitchen fire is thought to be the cause today of a fire at 4087 E Bass Lane in Hernando.

The fire in a single-wide mobile home was reported at 8:13 a.m., and crews arrived from the Kensington Fire Station at 8:28 a.m.

Smoke alarms are being credited for saving an Inverness resident when fire broke out at his 3255 E. Quail Court home on Tuesday night.

Citrus County fire crews, dispatched from the newly opened Kensignton Fire Station, responded at 11:57 p.m. to find the home involved in heavy smoke.

Homeless man accused of bank robbery

The Citrus County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday afternoon nabbed a man suspected of robbing the BB&T Bank in Inverness at 2709 East Gulf to Lake Highway.

Arrested was Robert , 42, a homeless man.

At 3:25 a.m. on Friday, Citrus County deputies were dispatched to the RaceTrac gas station (1001 N.E. 5th St.) in Crystal River in response to an armed robbery that had just occurred.

Beverly Hills residents and civic groups on Tuesday won the latest round in an effort by a developer to build low- and middle-income rental homes in that city.

The plan by Diamond Housing Partners LLC, which had been before the Citrus County commission on May 27 and June 9 seeking county approval to build 80 single-family units, was eventually rebuffed.

HOMOSASSA - Citrus County Sheriff’s Office detectives are looking for a 51-year-old Homosassa man who was last seen on Nov. 29 at his residence at 5460 W. Holiday St.

When deputies responded, Christopher Waugh’s home was unsecured, and his personal belongings were intact. There was no sign of violence or foul play.

Citrus County firefighters on Monday night were able to extinguish a blaze in a Homosassa mobile home, but a detached garage was completely destroyed.

Because of the quick reaction of firefighters, the fire only damaged 25 percent of the 2,500-square-foot doublewide home at 600 W. Kimberly Court.

Two mailboxes, about 400 to 500 yards apart, had been struck at 7276 and 7589 Hunterhill St.
